Valles Caldera hearing - March 9

Los Alamos County Council will hold a “listening session” on the idea of turning over Valles Caldera National Preserve operations to a professional, public land management agency. The hearing is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at White Rock Town Hall.

At the request of U.S. Sens. Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall, the National Park Service analyzed the idea of turning over Valles Caldera operations to the NPS. The agency said it could manage the preserve—at a savings to U.S. taxpayers of $1 million a year. Click here to read the study.

State Game Commission meeting, Albuquerque - April 8

The State Game Commission meets in Albuquerque at 9 a.m. Thursday, April 8. The agenda includes reauthorization of the Habitat Stamp Program, proposed timeline for
